How-to Guide
1. Check unread conversation status in the message list
Entry: Left message list area
- Open WPS and enter the collaboration message interface.
- Look at the display state of each conversation in the left message list.
- Check whether the conversation name is shown in bold and whether a red number badge appears beside the avatar.
- If the conversation is bold and has an unread badge, that conversation contains unread messages.
- Click the conversation to open it, and the unread badge is cleared automatically.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Unread conversations appear with bold names and a red number badge.
- What you can do next: You can open the conversation and continue reading the chat content.
- No side effect: Read conversations still keep their normal preview display and do not affect other chats.
Tips While Using
- The number in the unread badge shows the unread message count.
- When the unread count is high, the badge may appear as 99+.
- Mute settings do not affect unread counting or unread badge display.
2. Check read status for a message inside a chat
Entry: Chat window → read/unread status below the message
- Open any one-to-one chat or group chat.
- After sending a message, look at the status text below that message.
- If it shows All read or Read, the message has been viewed.
- If it shows X unread or Unread, some members have not viewed the message yet.
- Continue follow-up or reminders based on the status change.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Read, unread count, or all read status text is visible below the message.
- What you can do next: You can continue sending messages or follow up based on the status.
- No side effect: Checking the status does not change the message content itself.
Tips While Using
- In group chats, unread status is often shown as a number of people.
- The wording can differ slightly between one-to-one chats and group chats, but both indicate whether the message has been viewed.
- This feature does not require membership.
