1. Turn On Do Not Disturb for Messages

Entry: Conversation list → Right-click a conversation → Do Not Disturb for Messages

  1. Find the conversation in the left conversation list that you want to stop receiving alerts from.
  2. Right-click the conversation.
  3. Select Do Not Disturb for Messages from the menu.
  4. Confirm that a 🔕 icon appears on the right side of the conversation.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A 🔕 icon appears on the right side of the target conversation.
  • What you can do next: You can later restore notifications from the same right-click menu.
  • No side effect: New messages still arrive normally, and unread counts remain visible.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Make sure you right-click the target conversation instead of a blank area.
  • Status note: After Do Not Disturb is enabled, the available right-click option changes and no longer shows Do Not Disturb for Messages.
  • Scope: This setting applies only to the selected conversation.

2. Turn On New Message Notifications Again

Entry: Conversation list → Right-click a conversation → Enable New Message Notifications

  1. Find a conversation in the left conversation list that is already in Do Not Disturb status.
  2. Right-click the conversation.
  3. Select Enable New Message Notifications from the menu.
  4. Confirm that the 🔕 icon disappears from the right side of the conversation.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The 🔕 icon disappears from the target conversation.
  • What you can do next: New message alerts can appear again for that conversation.
  • No side effect: Existing unread message status is not cleared automatically when notifications are restored.
