1. Turn On Do Not Disturb for Messages

Entry: Conversation list → Right-click a conversation → Do Not Disturb for Messages

  1. In the conversation list on the left, find the conversation whose alerts you want to stop.
  2. Right-click the conversation to open the shortcut menu.
  3. Click Do Not Disturb for Messages.
  4. Confirm that a 🔕 icon appears on the right side of the conversation.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: a 🔕 icon appears next to the conversation.
  • What you can do next: new messages still arrive in the conversation list and unread counts still appear.
  • Notification state: the conversation no longer shows new message pop-up alerts.

Tips While Using

  • This setting applies only to the selected conversation.
  • After Do Not Disturb is enabled, messages still arrive normally and message sending is not affected.
  • If you want to mute multiple conversations, set them one by one.

2. Restore New Message Notifications

Entry: Conversation list → Right-click a muted conversation → Enable New Message Notifications

  1. In the conversation list on the left, find a conversation that is already muted.
  2. Right-click the conversation to open the shortcut menu.
  3. Click Enable New Message Notifications.
  4. Confirm that the 🔕 icon disappears from the conversation.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: the 🔕 icon disappears from the conversation.
  • What you can do next: the conversation can show new message alerts again.
  • State change: the notification option in the right-click menu changes automatically with the current state.

Tips While Using

  • Do Not Disturb for Messages and Enable New Message Notifications are two states of the same switch.
  • Only conversations that are already muted show Enable New Message Notifications in the right-click menu.
  • After notifications are restored, earlier unread badges can still remain until you review the messages.
