1. Start recording from the toolbar

Entry: Message editor toolbar → ✂️ button → Screen Recording

1. Open the WPS chat interface.
2. Click the ✂️ icon in the message editor at the bottom.
3. In the drop-down menu, review options such as screenshot, hide current window screenshot, screen recording, and hide current window screen recording.
4. Select Screen Recording to enter selection mode.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the pointer enters selection mode and is ready for area selection.
• Next action available: you can drag to define the recording range.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: if you click ✂️ but do not choose Screen Recording, another capture feature may open instead.

2. Select the recording area

Entry: Drag directly after entering recording mode

1. When the pointer changes to a crosshair, drag to select the screen area you want to record.
2. Release the mouse and confirm that the selection is shown with a blue dashed border.
3. If needed, drag the corner handles to resize the recording area.
4. Check the current area dimensions shown at the upper-left of the selection.
5. Confirm that the recording control panel appears below the selection.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the selection border, size information, and control panel are all visible.
• Next action available: you can choose GIF or MP4 and start recording.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: a very small selection may make the content hard to see, so adjust the area before you start.

3. Start recording

Entry: Recording control panel → GIF / MP4 → Start

1. In the control panel, choose GIF or MP4 as the recording format.
2. Click Start.
3. Check that the bottom control bar switches to recording progress.
4. During recording, review the elapsed time and the maximum duration.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the bottom bar shows recording progress and the Finish button.
• Next action available: you can continue recording or finish it when ready.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: MP4 currently does not support sound recording, so confirm the format before you begin.
• Environment limit: a single recording can last up to 5 minutes.

4. Finish recording and send it

Entry: Recording control bar → Finish

1. Click the red Finish button to stop recording.
2. Review the result in the preview window.
3. Choose Copy, Forward, or Download as needed.
4. Complete the send or save action.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: a preview window opens for the recorded result.
• Next action available: you can copy it to the clipboard, forward it to a conversation, or download it locally.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: if you do not choose an action in the preview window, the recording is not sent automatically.

5. Hide the current window before recording

Entry: Message editor toolbar → ✂️ button → Hide Current Window Screen Recording

1. In the chat interface, click the ✂️ icon.
2. Select Hide Current Window Screen Recording.
3. Wait for the current WPS window to hide automatically.
4. Select the recording area and continue with the normal recording steps.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the current WPS window is hidden and the target screen content is fully visible.
• Next action available: you can continue selecting the area and complete the recording.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: if the target content changes position, confirm the area again before you start recording.

6. Start recording with a shortcut

Entry: Shortcut Ctrl + Alt + R

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + R on the screen you want to record.
2. Enter selection mode directly.
3. Drag to select the recording area.
4. Follow the normal steps to start, finish, and send the recording.

• Interface result: you enter selection mode without opening the menu.
