How-to Guide

1. Open a conversation in a new window

Entry point: Right-click a target conversation in the conversation list → Open in New Window

  1. In the conversation list on the left side of WPS collaboration, find the chat you want to open.
  2. Right-click the conversation to open the action menu.
  3. Click Open in New Window.
  4. Wait for the conversation to appear in a separate window.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected conversation opens in its own window.
  • What you can do next: You can continue reading messages and send new content from the input area.
  • No unwanted effect: The main interface and conversation list remain available.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you right-click the wrong conversation, a different chat window may open.
  • Environment note: Open the collaboration conversation list first and make sure your account can send and receive messages normally.

2. Review the new window layout

Entry point: Toolbar area at the top of the detached window

  1. After the new window opens, check the title bar for the conversation name and member count.
  2. Review the quick action buttons in the upper-left area, including Open in Conversation List, Mark as Unread, and Always on Top.
  3. Confirm that the message input area at the bottom is available.
  4. Use the buttons as needed to return to the main list, mark the conversation unread, or keep the window above others.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The title bar, quick action buttons, and input area are visible.
  • What you can do next: You can continue chatting or adjust how the detached window stays on screen.
  • No unwanted effect: Switching or closing the detached window does not force the main interface to close.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Focusing only on the message area can make you miss the quick actions at the top.
  • Environment note: Button positions stay near the upper-left area of the window, so activate the current window before using them.
