How-to Guide
1. Start screen recording from the toolbar
Entry: Chat interface bottom message editor toolbar → ✂️ button → Screen Recording
- Open the chat conversation where you want to send the recording.
- Click the ✂️ icon in the message editor toolbar.
- In the drop-down menu, review options such as screenshot, hide current window screenshot, screen recording, and hide current window screen recording.
- Select Screen Recording to enter area selection mode.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the pointer enters selection mode and is ready to mark the recording area.
- Next action available: you can drag to select the recording range.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if you choose screenshot or hide current window screenshot by mistake, recording mode will not start.
2. Select the recording area
Entry: Drag directly after entering recording mode
- Move the pointer to the target area.
- Click and drag to select the part of the screen you want to record.
- Release the pointer and check the blue dashed border and corner handles.
- Drag the handles if you need to resize the area.
- Check the size information shown at the upper left of the selection.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the selected area appears with a blue dashed border and visible size information.
- Next action available: the recording control panel appears below the selected area.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if the selected area is too small, the recorded content may be hard to read.
3. Start recording and choose a format
Entry: Recording control panel → GIF / MP4 → Start
- In the control panel below the selected area, choose GIF or MP4.
- Confirm the content to record, then click Start.
- Check that the bottom control bar switches to recording progress.
- During recording, review the elapsed time and the maximum duration.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the bottom area shows the recording progress and the Finish button.
- Next action available: you can continue demonstrating on screen until you stop manually or reach the time limit.
Tips While Using
- Environment note: MP4 currently does not support sound recording.
- Common mistake: if you do not confirm the format before starting, the output may not match your sharing needs.
4. Finish recording and handle the result
Entry: Recording control bar → Finish
- After the demonstration is complete, click the red Finish button.
- Review the recording in the preview window.
- Choose Copy, Forward, or Download as needed.
- If you choose forward, select the target conversation and complete the send action.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: a preview window opens for the recorded result.
- Next action available: you can copy the result, forward it in chat, or save it locally.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: sending the result without previewing it first may leave out an important step.
5. Record after hiding the current window
Entry: Chat interface bottom message editor toolbar → ✂️ button → Hide Current Window Screen Recording
- Click the ✂️ icon to open the drop-down menu.
- Select Hide Current Window Screen Recording.
- Wait for the current WPS window to hide automatically.
- Select the recording area in the usual way.
- Choose a format and start recording.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the current WPS window is hidden and the target area is fully visible.
- Next action available: you can continue selecting and recording content that was previously blocked.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: after the window is hidden, switching to another app by mistake may interrupt the workflow.
6. Use the shortcut to record quickly
Entry: Shortcut Ctrl + Alt + R
- Press
Ctrl + Alt + Ron the screen you want to record. - Enter area selection mode directly.
- Drag to select the recording area.
- Choose GIF or MP4 as needed, then click Start.
- When the recording is complete, click Finish and handle the result.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: you enter selection mode without opening the drop-down menu first.
- Next action available: the rest of the recording flow is the same as the toolbar method.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if the shortcut does not respond, first confirm that the current interface can receive WPS shortcut input.
