1. Create a Checkbox Field

Entry path: Click the + button on the right side of the header → open the field type list → select Checkbox

  1. Click the + button on the right side of the table header.
  2. In the field type list, select Checkbox.
  3. Enter a field name.
  4. Click OK to finish creating the field.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A new checkbox field column appears in the datasheet.
  • What you can do next: You can click cells in that column to check or uncheck them.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the datasheet is not active, you may not see the add-field entry in the header.
  • Environment note: This action needs to be performed inside a Smart Table datasheet.

2. Toggle Checkbox Status

Entry path: Open the target cell → click directly to switch the state

  1. Find the target cell in the checkbox field column.
  2. Click the cell to switch it between checked and unchecked.
  3. A checked state shows a check mark, while an unchecked state shows an empty box.
  4. Continue clicking other records as needed to update multiple rows.

  • Interface result: The checkbox state in the cell changes.

  • Common mistake: Clicking a cell in another field will not change the checkbox state.

3. Set Default Checked State

Entry path: Right-click the field title → open Field Settings → enable Default Checked

  3. Turn on Default Checked.
