1. Access Version History
Entry path: Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner → Version History
- Open a document that has already been saved to WPS Cloud.
- Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Version History from the list.
- Tap the Version History button again.
- View the version history list for the current document.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: You can see the version history list for the current document.
- Next action available: You can continue with naming, previewing, restoring, saving as, or deleting a selected version.
Tips While Using
- Environment limit: If the file is not saved to WPS Cloud, version history is not available.
- Network note: Loading the version history list usually requires an internet connection.
2. Name a History Version
Entry path: Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner → Version History → ... next to a version → Name
- Open the version history list.
- Find the version you want to name.
- Tap the ... icon next to that version.
- Tap Name.
- Enter a name and tap OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected version shows the new name.
- Next action available: You can identify that version more quickly later.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: A vague name can make later lookup harder, so use a milestone label or date-based name when possible.
3. Preview a History Version
Entry path: Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner → Version History → ... next to a version → Preview
- Open the version history list.
- Find the version you want to preview.
- Tap the ... icon next to that version.
- Tap Preview.
- Review the content of that version.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected historical version opens for viewing.
- Next action available: After checking the content, you can return to the list and continue with other actions.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Preview is for checking content only. If you want to roll back the current file, use Restore instead.
4. Restore a History Version
Entry path: Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner → Version History → ... next to a version → Restore to this version
- Open the version history list.
- Find the version you want to restore.
- Tap the ... icon next to that version.
- Tap Restore to this version.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the restore action.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The current file returns to the content of the selected historical version.
- Next action available: You can continue editing the restored document.
Tips While Using
- Membership note: Restoring a history version requires membership.
- Common mistake: Preview the version first so you can confirm it before restoring.
5. Save a History Version as a New File
Entry path: Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner → Version History → ... next to a version → Save As and Open
- Open the version history list.
- Find the version you want to save separately.
- Tap the ... icon next to that version.
- Tap Save As and Open.
- Choose a storage path.
- Save the selected version as a new file and open it.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: A new file copy is created and opened.
- Next action available: You can continue editing the new file without changing the original file's version chain.
Tips While Using
- Membership note: Saving a history version as a new file requires membership.
- Common mistake: If you want to roll back the current file instead of creating a separate copy, use Restore rather than Save As.
6. Delete a History Version
Entry path: Tap the ≡ icon in the top-right corner → Version History → ... next to a version → Delete Version
- Open the version history list.
- Find the version you want to delete.
- Tap the ... icon next to that version.
- Tap Delete Version.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete deletion.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected history version no longer appears in the list.
