Who can view a document’s version history?

  1. Only users with editing permission for the document can view its version history.
  2. If your account can only view the document and cannot edit it, the Version History entry may be unavailable.

What happens after I restore a historical version?

  1. The document returns to the content state of the selected historical version.
  2. The current content is replaced by that selected version.
  3. If you still need the current content, back it up first or save the historical version as a new file before restoring.

Is version history suitable for long-term keeping?

  1. Version history is useful for reviewing and restoring earlier editing states.
  2. For important versions that you want to identify later, rename them manually.
