1. Edit Document Properties
Entry: Right-click the file name tab at the top → Properties → Summary
- Right-click the file name in the top tab bar.
- Select Properties from the menu.
- Open the Summary tab.
- Edit the title, subject, author, manager, company, category, keywords, and comments as needed.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The properties window closes and returns you to the current document.
- Next action available: When you open the properties window again, the updated fields are still shown.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you close the window without clicking OK, the changes are not saved.
- Environment note: If the document is read-only, you may not be able to save property changes.
2. Add Custom Properties
Entry: Right-click the file name tab at the top → Properties → Custom
- Right-click the file name in the top tab bar.
- Select Properties from the menu.
- Open the Custom tab.
- Enter a property name in the Name box.
- Enter a property value in the Value box.
- Click Add.
- Click OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The custom property appears in the property list.
- Next action available: After saving the document and reopening the properties window, the custom property is still available.
