1. Open Control Properties

Entry path: Developer → Control Properties (after entering Design Mode)

  1. Open the document you want to edit.
  2. Open the Developer tab.
  3. Click Design Mode so the document enters a control-editing state.
  4. Select the content control you want to edit.
  5. Click Control Properties to open the properties dialog.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the Control Properties dialog opens.
  • Next action available: you can review or change the control title, tag, and lock options.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if Design Mode is not enabled, Control Properties may not be available.
  • Environment note: you need to select a content control in the document first.

2. Set Basic Control Properties

Entry path: Developer → Design Mode → Control Properties

  1. Open the document and go to the Developer tab.
  2. Click Design Mode, then select the target content control.
  3. Click Control Properties.
  4. Enter the control title.
  5. Enter the tag text.
  6. Set the display color for the control.
  7. Choose whether to use a preset style or a custom style.
  8. Set whether the control content should be locked.
  9. Click OK to save the settings.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the updated settings are saved and you return to the document.
  • Next action available: when you select the control again, the updated property effect is visible.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if no control is selected first, you cannot apply property changes to the target control.
  • Environment note: control properties can be edited only in Design Mode.
