1. View version history

Entry path: File Operations → History → Version History

  1. Open a document that has already been uploaded to the cloud.
  2. Click the File Operations button in the upper-left corner.
  3. Select History.
  4. Click Version History.
  5. Review the version list in the right-side panel.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A version list appears on the right side.
  • What you can do next: You can choose a version to preview, restore, or save as a new file.

Tips While Using

  • Open a cloud document first. This entry does not apply to local-only files.
  • If you are not signed in or not connected to the internet, the version list may not load.

2. Preview an earlier version

Entry path: File Operations → History → Version History → More options for a version → Preview

  1. Open the version history list first.
  2. Find the target version in the list.
  3. Click the three-dot icon next to that version.
  4. Select Preview.
  5. Review the content in the preview window.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected historical version opens in preview.
  • What you can do next: After checking the content, you can return to the list and continue with restore or save-as actions.

Tips While Using

  • Check the update time and content before restoring a version.

3. Restore to an earlier version

Entry path: File Operations → History → Version History → More options for a version → Restore to this version

  1. Open the version history list.
  2. Find the version you want to restore.
  3. Click the three-dot icon next to that version.
  4. Select Restore to this version.
  5. Confirm the restore action when prompted.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The current document returns to the selected historical content.
  • What you can do next: You can continue editing, save the file, or review other versions again.

Tips While Using

  • Restoring changes the current document back to the selected earlier state.
  • If you want to keep the current content, preview or save the earlier version as a new file first.

4. Save an earlier version as a new file

Entry path: File Operations → History → Version History → More options for a version → Save As

  1. Open the version history list.
  2. Find the historical version you want to export.
  3. Click the three-dot icon next to that version.
  4. Select Save As.
  5. Choose a save location, then click Save and Open.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The historical version is saved as a new file and opens.
  • What you can do next: You can keep working with the original file and the newly saved file separately.

Tips While Using

  • This is useful when you want to keep older content without overwriting the current document.
