1. Create a Contact Field

Entry: Click the + button on the right side of the table header, then choose Contact.

  1. Open the target multidimensional table.
  2. Click the + button on the right side of the table header.
  3. Select Contact from the field type list.
  4. Enter a field name.
  5. Click OK to finish creating the field.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A new contact field column appears in the table.
  • Next action available: You can add contacts in cells under this column or open the field settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you are not working in the correct table, the field may be added to a different sheet or view.
  • Environment note: If the field list does not load normally, refresh the page and try again.

2. Add Contacts

Entry: Click the target cell, search for a contact, and confirm the selection.

  1. Click a target cell in the contact field.
  2. In the contact picker panel, enter a contact name or keyword.
  3. Click the target contact in the search results.
  4. If you need more than one contact, continue searching and selecting additional contacts.
  5. Close the panel or click a blank area to return to the table.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected contact or contacts appear in the cell.
  • Next action available: You can reopen the cell later to add or remove contacts.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the keyword is too broad, the result list may be long. Enter a fuller name or department keyword when possible.
  • Environment note: Contacts depend on collaborator or directory data. If a person is outside the visible range, that contact may not appear in search.

3. Set a Default Value

Entry: Right-click the field title, open Field Settings, and find Default Value.

  1. Right-click the contact field title.
  2. Select Field Settings.
  3. Find the Default Value option.
  4. Choose Specified Person or Person Who Added This Record as needed.
  5. Save the setting. New records will then fill in the default contact automatically.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected default rule appears in the field settings.
  • Next action available: When you add a new record, the default contact is filled in automatically.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: After you change a default value, it usually applies to new records going forward. Existing records may still need manual updates.
