How-to Guide
1. Create a Contact Field
Entry: the + button on the right side of the header → Contact field
- Open the multidimensional table that you want to edit.
- Click the + button on the right side of the header.
- Select Contact from the field type list.
- Enter a field name.
- Click OK to finish creating the field.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: a new contact field column appears in the table.
- Next action available: you can click cells in that column to add contacts.
Tips While Using
- Use a field name that matches the business role, such as Owner or Project Contact.
- If you do not see the Contact field, confirm that the current table supports field structure editing.
2. Add Contacts
Entry: target cell → search contacts → select to confirm
- Click the target cell in the contact field.
- In the contact picker panel, enter a contact name or keyword.
- Click the target contact in the search results.
- If you need more than one contact, continue searching and selecting additional contacts.
- Close the panel or click another area of the table when you finish.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the selected contact or contacts appear in the cell.
- Next action available: you can click the cell again to review or add more contacts.
Tips While Using
- Search results depend on which contacts are visible to you, so make sure the contact is available in your collaboration scope or address list.
- One contact field cell can contain multiple contacts.
3. Set a Default Value
Entry: right-click the field title → Field Settings → Default Value
- Right-click the contact field title.
- Select Field Settings.
- Find the Default Value option.
- Choose Specified Person or The Person Who Adds This Record as needed.
- If you choose Specified Person, search for and select the target contact.
- Save the setting. New records will then fill in the default contact automatically.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the default value rule is saved in field settings.
- Next action available: new records automatically show the default contact in that field.
Tips While Using
- Specified Person works well for fixed-owner scenarios.
- The Person Who Adds This Record works well when records should belong to the creator automatically.
