1. Open the basic field area

Entry point: Click + to add a field → open the Field Type dropdown list → view the Basic Field area

  1. In the table toolbar, click Add Field.
  2. Open the Field Type dropdown menu.
  3. Find the Basic Field area in the field type list.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: You can see the basic field category area.
  • Next actions: You can continue to choose text, number, date, and other field types.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If the table is not open first, the Add Field entry may not appear.
  • Environment limits: You need permission to edit the current DBSheet table.

2. Choose and add a basic field

Entry point: Basic Field area → choose the field type you need

  1. Browse the available field types in the Basic Field area.
  2. Choose a field type based on your data, such as text, number, single select, or date.
  3. Click the target field type to add it.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A new field column appears in the table.
  • Next actions: You can enter matching data into the new field.

  • Common mistakes: Mixing up single-select and multi-select may affect later data entry.
  • Environment limits: For contacts and attachments in collaborative work, keeping the network available is recommended.

3. Check compatibility before changing a field type

Entry point: Existing field settings → change the field type

  1. Open the settings for an existing field.
  2. Select the option to change the field type.
  3. Before confirming, check whether the existing data is compatible with the new type.
  4. After the change, review the data in the field.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The field type has been updated.
  • Next actions: You can continue editing the field.
  • No side effects: Existing data does not show unexpected format changes.
