1. Choose the Trigger Condition

Entry path: Upper-right area of the data table → AutomationCreate Blank Workflow → choose a trigger type

  1. Open the target smart table.
  2. Click Automation in the upper-right area.
  3. Select Create Blank Workflow.
  4. In Step 1, under If the following happens, click Please select a trigger condition.
  5. Choose When Modifying Records from the trigger list.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The current workflow shows When Modifying Records as the trigger condition.
  • Next step available: You can continue to the trigger settings panel and configure the table and scope.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not create a blank workflow first, you may not see the trigger selection list directly.
  • Environment note: You need to be inside an editable smart table.

2. Configure the Trigger

Entry path: Trigger Settings panel → Select the data table where modified records are located

  1. In the dropdown for Select the data table where modified records are located, choose the target table.
  2. In the dropdown for Set effective scope, choose the trigger scope.
  3. To monitor any field change, select Take effect when any field in the record is modified.
  4. To monitor only key fields, select Take effect when specified fields in the record are modified.
  5. Click Save and Enable in the upper-right area to finish the setup.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The trigger settings are saved and the workflow shows as enabled.
  • Next step available: You can continue adding notification, update, or other automation actions.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you choose the wrong data table, the workflow may not run when the intended record changes.
  • Environment note: The workflow runs only when the record content actually changes.
