How-to Guide

1. Insert a Page Break

Entry point: the Writer editing area; you can also use Ctrl+Enter.

  1. Open your document in WPS Writer.
  2. Place the cursor where you want the current page to end.
  3. Press Ctrl+Enter to insert a page break.
  4. Or open the relevant insert command from the top menu bar and choose the page break option.
  5. Check whether the content after the cursor moves to the next page.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: Content after the cursor starts on a new page.
  • Next action available: You can continue typing, formatting, or saving the document on the new page.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Pressing Enter repeatedly to force a new page can disrupt layout later. Use the page break command instead.
  • Environment note: You need an editable document. Read-only mode does not allow content changes.

2. Show Page Break Marks

Entry point: Menu > Options > View.

  1. Open a Writer document that contains page breaks.
  2. Click Menu in the upper-left area.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Open View settings.
  5. Turn on the relevant formatting marks display option and confirm.
  6. Return to the document and review the page break positions.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: You can see where page break marks are placed in the document.
  • Next action available: You can continue reviewing, deleting, or adjusting page break positions.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If formatting marks are not enabled, manual page breaks are harder to identify.
  • Environment note: The display depends on the current view settings, but it does not change the document content itself.

3. Delete a Page Break

Entry point: the displayed page break mark inside the document.

  1. First use the previous section to show page break marks.
  2. Place the mouse pointer or cursor behind the Page Break mark.
  3. Press the Delete key.
  4. Check whether the separated content flows together again.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: The page break mark disappears and later content flows back into the previous page.
  • Next action available: You can keep editing, insert another page break, or save the document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not show page break marks first, it may be difficult to delete the correct break.
  • Environment note: You can delete manual page breaks, while automatic page breaks adjust with content flow.
