How-to Guide
1. Add Underline
Entry path: Tools → Home → Underline
- Select the cell or range where you want to add an underline.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap the Underline button with the U icon.
- The text in the selected area will display an underline.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: text in the selected cells shows an underline.
- What you can do next: continue typing, editing, or saving the spreadsheet.
Tips While Using
- The underline color follows the current font color and cannot be set separately here.
- This feature does not require membership.
2. Remove Underline
Entry path: Tools → Home → Underline
- Select the cell or range that already has an underline.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap the Underline button again.
- The underline format is removed.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: the underline disappears and the text returns to normal display.
- What you can do next: apply other text formatting or save the file.
Tips While Using
- The same control is used for both applying and removing underline.
3. Keep Underline While Typing
Entry path: Tools → Home → Underline
- First, follow the steps in Add Underline to turn underline on for the target cell.
- Continue typing in the cell that already has underline formatting.
- Check whether the newly entered text keeps the underline format.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: newly entered text continues to display an underline.
- What you can do next: keep entering similar content with consistent formatting.
Tips While Using
- When you continue typing, new text inherits the current underline format automatically.
