1. Insert cells from the Home tab

Entry path: Tools at the bottom → Home tab → Insert Cells

  1. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  2. Select the Home tab.
  3. Tap Insert Cells.
  4. Choose the insertion method you need:
    • Insert cells and shift the active cell right
    • Insert cells and shift the active cell down
    • Insert an entire row above
    • Insert an entire column to the left

Success Criteria

  • A new blank cell, row, or column appears in the current sheet.
  • Existing data moves in the direction you selected.
  • You can continue entering, editing, or saving the spreadsheet.

Tips While Using

  • Confirm the active cell position before inserting so nearby data is not affected unexpectedly.
  • If the sheet already contains continuous data, nearby content will move after insertion.

2. Delete cells from the Home tab

Entry path: Tools at the bottom → Home tab → Delete Cells

  1. Select the cell that you want to delete.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Select the Home tab.
  4. Tap Delete Cells.
  5. Choose a deletion method:
    • Shift Left
    • Shift Up
    • Entire Row
    • Entire Column

Success Criteria

  • The selected cell, row, or column is removed.
  • Nearby data fills the space based on the option you selected.
  • The updated sheet structure remains editable.

Tips While Using

  • Check the selected range before deleting so you do not remove an entire row or column by mistake.
  • If formulas or references are involved, results may change after deletion.
