1. Fill Down

Feature path: Home tab → Fill drop-down menu → Fill Down

  1. Select the source cell and the target range that you want to fill downward.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Open the Fill drop-down menu.
  4. Click Fill Down.
  5. The content of the top cell in the selection is copied to all selected cells below.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The cells below show the filled result based on the first cell.
  • What you can do next: You can continue editing, save the file, or run another fill action.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you select only one cell, there is no downward target range to fill.

2. Fill Right

Feature path: Home tab → Fill drop-down menu → Fill Right

  1. Select the source cell and the range that you want to fill to the right.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Open the Fill drop-down menu.
  4. Click Fill Right.
  5. The content of the leftmost cell in the selection is copied to all selected cells on the right.

3. Fill Up

  5. The content of the bottom cell in the selection is copied to all selected cells above.

4. Fill Left

5. Calculate and Enter Ranking

  4. Click Calculate and Enter Ranking.

6. Fill Blank Cells

7. Enter Current Date
