1. Align Top

Feature path: Home tab → Align Top

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Align Top on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The selected content appears at the top of the cell.
  • You can continue editing, saving, or applying other formatting.

Tips While Using

  • Make sure the correct cell is selected before you click the command.

2. Middle Align

Feature path: Home tab → Middle Align

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Middle Align on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The selected content is vertically centered in the cell.
  • Existing cell content remains intact.

3. Align Bottom

Feature path: Home tab → Align Bottom

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Align Bottom on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The selected content appears at the bottom of the cell.
  • Other table formatting stays unchanged.

4. Align Left

Feature path: Home tab → Align Left

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Align Left on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The content is aligned to the left side of the cell.

5. Center

Feature path: Home tab → Center

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Center on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The content is centered horizontally in the cell.

6. Align Right

Feature path: Home tab → Align Right

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Align Right on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The content is aligned to the right side of the cell.

7. Justify

Feature path: Home tab → Justify

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Justify on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The text is arranged with justified spacing within the available width.

8. Distributed

Feature path: Home tab → Distributed

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click Distributed on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The text is distributed across the cell according to the selected alignment style.

9. Set horizontal alignment in the Format Cells dialog

Feature path: Home tab → Format Cells: Alignment arrow → Horizontal drop-down list

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click the Format Cells: Alignment arrow on the Home tab.
  3. In the dialog box, open the Horizontal drop-down list.
  4. Select the alignment you want, then click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cell uses the new horizontal alignment.
  • The setting takes effect immediately after the dialog closes.

10. Set vertical alignment in the Format Cells dialog

Feature path: Home tab → Format Cells: Alignment arrow → Vertical drop-down list

  1. Select the target cell, or select part of the text inside the cell.
  2. Click the Format Cells: Alignment arrow on the Home tab.
  3. In the dialog box, open the Vertical drop-down list.
  4. Select the alignment you want, then click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cell uses the new vertical alignment.

11. Set horizontal alignment from the right-click Format Cells menu

Feature path: Right-click menu → Format Cells → Alignment tab

  1. Select the target cell and right-click it.
  2. Select Format Cells.
  3. Open the Alignment tab.
  4. Open the Horizontal drop-down list and choose the alignment you want.
  5. Click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The horizontal alignment set from the right-click path is applied.

12. Set vertical alignment from the right-click Format Cells menu

Feature path: Right-click menu → Format Cells → Alignment tab

  1. Select the target cell and right-click it.
  2. Select Format Cells.
  3. Open the Alignment tab.
  4. Open the Vertical drop-down list and choose the alignment you want.
  5. Click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The vertical alignment set from the right-click path is applied.

13. Decrease Indent

Feature path: Home tab → Decrease Indent

  1. Select the cell where you want to adjust indentation.
  2. Click Decrease Indent to reduce the indent level.

Success Criteria

  • The cell content moves left and the indent level becomes smaller.

14. Increase Indent

Feature path: Home tab → Increase Indent

  1. Select the cell where you want to adjust indentation.
  2. Click Increase Indent to increase the indent level.

Success Criteria

  • The cell content moves right and the hierarchy becomes more visible.
