Why does nothing change after I click an alignment button?

1. Make sure the target cell or the text inside the cell is selected.
2. Check whether the file is editable instead of being in a read-only state.
3. If the cell is short or the row height is small, some vertical alignment effects may not be obvious. Try adjusting the row height and check again.

What is the difference between horizontal alignment and vertical alignment?

1. Horizontal alignment controls the left-right position of content in a cell, such as Align Left, Center, and Align Right.
2. Vertical alignment controls the top-bottom position of content in a cell, such as Align Top, Middle Align, and Align Bottom.
3. If you need both, apply one setting first and then apply the other.

Why can’t I find the alignment settings in Format Cells?

1. Select the target cell first.
2. On the Home tab, click the Format Cells: Alignment arrow, or right-click the cell and select Format Cells.
3. In the Alignment tab, choose horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, or indentation-related options.
