1. Insert an attachment through Local File

Entry point: Insert tab → Local File

  1. Select the cell or nearby area where you want to place the attachment.
  2. Click the Insert tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Local File.
  4. In the pop-up window, select the local file that you want to insert.
  5. Click OK to finish.
  6. Drag the attachment icon if you want to adjust its position in the worksheet.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The inserted file icon appears in the worksheet.
  • Next actions: You can double-click the icon to open the file or continue moving the icon.
  • No side effects: Existing cell data is not automatically replaced by the inserted attachment.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you insert the file before choosing a suitable position, the icon may cover existing content.
  • Environment limits: If the file does not open after you double-click it, make sure the system has a compatible app for that file type.
