  1. Select the target cell where you want to add a comment.
  2. Right-click the cell and select Insert Comment.
  3. Enter the comment content in the pop-up comment box.
  4. Click any blank area outside the input box to save it.
  5. Check whether a small red triangle appears in the upper-right corner of the cell, and hover over the cell to confirm the comment is visible.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A comment marker appears in the upper-right corner of the target cell.
  • Next action available: You can hover over the cell to view the comment content.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the target cell is not selected first, the comment may not be added to the intended location.
  • Environment limit: If the file is read-only, you may not be able to write a comment.

2. Insert a Comment from the Ribbon

Feature entry: Insert tab → Comment

  1. Select the target cell.
  2. Click Comment on the Insert tab.
  3. Enter the content in the pop-up comment box.
  4. Click a blank area to finish the insertion.
  5. Confirm that the target cell now shows the comment marker.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The target cell shows a comment marker.
  • Next action available: You can continue to view, reply to, or later delete the comment.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you are not positioned on the correct cell first, the comment will be attached to the currently selected cell.

3. Delete a Comment

Feature entry: Select a cell with a comment → Comment panel upper-right ... → Delete Comment

  1. Select the cell that contains the comment.
  2. Open the comment content area and click the ... icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Delete Comment.
  4. Confirm that the comment content has been removed.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The comment marker disappears or the original comment content is no longer shown.
  • Next action available: You can add a new comment to the same cell again.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Deleting the cell content does not automatically remove the related comment, so the comment must be deleted separately.
