How-to Guide
1. Insert a Comment from the Right-Click Menu
Feature entry: Select a cell → Right-click menu → Insert Comment
- Select the target cell where you want to add a comment.
- Right-click the cell and select Insert Comment.
- Enter the comment content in the pop-up comment box.
- Click any blank area outside the input box to save it.
- Check whether a small red triangle appears in the upper-right corner of the cell, and hover over the cell to confirm the comment is visible.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: A comment marker appears in the upper-right corner of the target cell.
- Next action available: You can hover over the cell to view the comment content.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the target cell is not selected first, the comment may not be added to the intended location.
- Environment limit: If the file is read-only, you may not be able to write a comment.
2. Insert a Comment from the Ribbon
Feature entry: Insert tab → Comment
- Select the target cell.
- Click Comment on the Insert tab.
- Enter the content in the pop-up comment box.
- Click a blank area to finish the insertion.
- Confirm that the target cell now shows the comment marker.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The target cell shows a comment marker.
- Next action available: You can continue to view, reply to, or later delete the comment.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you are not positioned on the correct cell first, the comment will be attached to the currently selected cell.
3. Delete a Comment
Feature entry: Select a cell with a comment → Comment panel upper-right ... → Delete Comment
- Select the cell that contains the comment.
- Open the comment content area and click the ... icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Delete Comment.
- Confirm that the comment content has been removed.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The comment marker disappears or the original comment content is no longer shown.
- Next action available: You can add a new comment to the same cell again.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Deleting the cell content does not automatically remove the related comment, so the comment must be deleted separately.
