How-to Guide

1. Insert a Preset Text Watermark

Entry points:

  • Insert tab → Watermark
  • Home tab → Insert → Watermark
  • Page tab → Watermark
  1. Open the document where you want to add a watermark.
  2. Click Watermark on the Insert tab, or open the watermark list from another visible entry point.
  3. Select the preset watermark style you want.
  4. Available styles include options such as Confidential, Do Not Copy, Original, and Sample.
  5. Click the style to apply it to all pages in the document.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the selected preset watermark appears in the page background.
  • What you can do next: continue editing the document or open custom watermark settings.
  • No side effect: the watermark is applied consistently across all pages.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if no document is open, you cannot apply a watermark directly.
  • Environment note: depending on the interface layout, the Watermark entry may appear on different tabs.

2. Create a Custom Watermark

Entry point: Insert tab → Watermark → Custom Watermark

  1. Open the document and click the Insert tab.
  2. Click Watermark to open the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Custom Watermark.
  4. To use an image watermark, select Picture Watermark.
  5. Set image scaling, layout, and washout.
  6. To use a text watermark, select Text Watermark.
  7. Enter the watermark text.
  8. Set the font, font size, color, layout, and transparency.
  9. Confirm the settings to apply the watermark to the document.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the customized text or image watermark appears in the document.
  • What you can do next: reopen the custom watermark panel and adjust the settings again.
  • No side effect: the watermark settings update the page background display in the document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: after changing several settings, not confirming them may prevent the final effect from appearing.
  • Environment note: an image watermark requires an available image file first.

3. Remove a Watermark

Entry point: Insert tab → Watermark → Remove Watermark

  1. Open a document that already contains a watermark.
  2. Click Watermark on the Insert tab.
  3. Select Remove Watermark.
  4. The watermark is removed from the document.
  5. The same watermark is removed from all pages at the same time.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the watermark no longer appears in the page background.
  • What you can do next: insert another preset watermark or create a new custom watermark.
  • No side effect: removing the watermark does not change the main document content.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you do not save the document after removal, the original watermark may still appear when you reopen the file.
