1. Start Draw Table

Entry point: Insert → Table → Draw Table

  1. Open WPS Slides and go to the slide that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Insert tab.
  3. Click the Table drop-down menu.
  4. Select Draw Table.
  5. Confirm that the mouse pointer changes to a pencil shape.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The interface enters drawing mode and the pointer changes to a drawing cursor.
  • Next actions: You can drag on a blank area of the slide to start drawing a table.

  • Common mistakes: If the current slide editing area is not active, it may look like the feature did not start.

2. Draw the table border

Entry point: After entering Draw Table mode, drag directly on the slide

  1. Move the mouse to the target area on the slide.
  2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag.
  3. Draw the outer border of the table.
  4. Release the mouse button and confirm the size and position.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A table border appears on the slide.
  • Next actions: You can continue adding row and column divider lines inside the border.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If the border is too small, later divider lines will be harder to place, so leave enough space first.

3. Draw row and column dividers

Entry point: After the table border is created, drag inside the table

  1. Move the mouse inside the table.
  2. Drag horizontally to add a row divider.
  3. Drag vertically to add a column divider.
  4. Repeat as needed to build the cell structure that matches your content.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: New horizontal or vertical divider lines appear inside the table.
  • Next actions: You can continue refining the table or move on to table formatting.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If a line is placed incorrectly, undo it first and then draw it again.

4. Exit or correct the drawing result

Entry point: Table Style → Eraser, or press Esc

  1. If you need to remove an incorrect line, click Eraser on the Table Style tab.
  2. Click the line that you want to remove.
  3. If needed, press Ctrl+Z to undo the previous action.
  4. After finishing the table, press Esc to exit drawing mode.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: Incorrect lines are removed, or drawing mode ends.
  • Next actions: You can select the table and continue editing its style and content.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you are still in drawing mode, clicking on the slide may add extra lines.
