How-to Guide
1. Set top title rows
Entry: Page tab → Print Titles
- Open the spreadsheet you want to print.
- Click the Page tab.
- Click Print Titles.
- In the Page Setup dialog box, find Rows to repeat at top.
- Click the selection button and choose the row or rows that should repeat at the top of every printed page.
- Click OK to apply the setting.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected row reference appears in the Rows to repeat at top box.
- Next action: In print preview, the selected title row appears at the top of each printed page.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Selecting an incomplete header row can make printed labels incomplete.
- Environment note: If no printer or printer driver is available on the device, some print-related previews may be limited.
2. Set left title columns
Entry: Page tab → Print Titles
- Open the spreadsheet you want to print.
- Click the Page tab.
- Click Print Titles.
- In the Page Setup dialog box, find Columns to repeat at left.
- Click the selection button and choose the column or columns that should repeat on the left side of every printed page.
- Click OK to save the setting.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected column reference appears in the Columns to repeat at left box.
- Next action: In print preview, the left-side label column remains visible across pages.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Selecting a data column instead of a label column can produce unexpected repeated content.
- Environment note: Left title columns are especially useful for wide tables that need category labels across pages.
3. Set multiple title rows or columns
Entry: Page tab → Print Titles
- Open the spreadsheet and go to the Page tab.
- Click Print Titles to open Page Setup.
- In Rows to repeat at top, select a multi-row range such as
$1:$3. - In Columns to repeat at left, select a multi-column range such as
$A:$B. - Check whether the references match your print layout needs.
- Click OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Both top-row and left-column reference boxes show the selected ranges.
- Next action: In print preview, repeated multi-row headers and multi-column labels appear together.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Selecting a range that is too large can reduce the usable data area on each printed page.
- Environment note: Print Titles affects printed output and print preview, not the worksheet editing view.
