How-to Guide

1. Set Data Validation

Entry path: Tools → Data → Data Validation

  1. Select the cell or range where you want to add data validation.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen and open the Data tab.
  3. Tap Data Validation.
  4. Choose a rule type from Any Value, Whole Number, Decimal, List, Date, Time, Text Length, or Custom.
  5. Set the specific condition for the selected rule type.
  6. Tap OK to apply the data validation rule to the current cell or range.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: When you open Data Validation again, the selected range shows the applied rule.
  • Next action available: When you enter content in the target cell, WPS restricts or prompts according to the rule.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not select the target cell or range first, the rule may be applied to an unexpected area.
  • Environment note: If the file is read-only or you do not have edit permission, the result may not be saved.

2. Clear Data Validation

Entry path: Tools → Data → Data Validation

  1. Select the cell or range where you want to remove data validation.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen and open the Data tab.
  3. Tap Data Validation.
  4. Tap Clear All at the bottom to remove the current data validation rule from the selected area.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The previous rule is removed and the target cells return to normal input behavior.
  • Next action available: You can apply a new validation rule or enter content freely.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the selected area is too large, the clear action removes rules from multiple cells at the same time.
  • Environment note: If the file is not saved after clearing, reopening it may still show the previous rule.
