1. Create a Numbering field
Entry: Tap the table header → Edit → Field Type → Numbering
- Tap the header in the target table.
- In the floating toolbar, tap Edit.
- In the field editing window, tap Field Type.
- Select Numbering.
- Set the field name and confirm to finish creation.
Success Criteria
- The new Numbering field appears in the table header.
- The field is ready to display numbering results for new records.
Tips While Using
- The Numbering field is used for system-generated numbering.
- On mobile, custom numbering rules and formats are not available.
2. Generate numbers automatically
Entry: Add a new record to generate the number automatically
- Add a new record in a table that already contains a Numbering field.
- WPS automatically generates a number in that field.
- When you continue adding records, the numbers increase in sequence.
- If a record is deleted, a number that has already been used is not recycled.
Success Criteria
- Every new record receives its own number.
- Later records continue increasing without duplicating existing numbers.
Tips While Using
- Generated numbers cannot be edited manually.
- If you want to review records by number order, you can sort by the Numbering field, but the numbering itself is not reassigned.
