1. Change user information for revisions

Entry point: Review → the drop-down menu next to Revisions → Change User Name

  1. Open the document that you want to review.
  2. Click the drop-down menu next to the Revisions button on the Review tab.
  3. Select Change User Name.
  4. Update the name and initials in the dialog box.
  5. Select Use this user information in revisions.
  6. Click OK to save the setting.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The updated name, initials, and revision-use setting are shown in the dialog.
  • Next actions: New revisions and comments can use the current identity setting.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you change the name but do not enable Use this user information in revisions, the displayed revision identity may not match your expectation.
  • Environment limits: Existing historical revisions do not change to the new author name automatically.

2. View user information

Entry point: File → Writer Preferences → User Information

  1. Open WPS Writer.
  2. Click the File menu in the upper-left corner.
  3. Click Writer Preferences, then select User Information.
  4. In the dialog box, check the current name, initials, and whether the revision-use option is enabled.
  5. If needed, adjust the settings in the same panel.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The User Information settings panel opens successfully.
  • Next actions: You can review the current name, initials, and revision-use option, then adjust them if needed.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: Opening preferences without switching to User Information can make it seem like the current settings are unavailable.
