How-to Guide
1. Insert Content Control for Building Blocks
Feature entry: Developer → Content Control for Building Blocks
- Open WPS Writer and go to the document you want to edit.
- Make sure Design Mode is already enabled.
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the control.
- Click Content Control for Building Blocks.
- Check whether the control appears in the document.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: A new building block content control appears in the document.
- Next action available: You can select the control and continue to open its properties.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If Design Mode is not enabled, it may be harder to continue adjusting the control.
- Environment note: The Developer tab needs to be available first.
2. Configure the Building Block Source
Feature entry: Developer → Control Properties
- Select the inserted building block content control in the document.
- Click Control Properties.
- In the properties panel, choose the building block source you want to use.
- Adjust other control properties as needed.
- Save the settings and return to the document.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The control properties are updated.
- Next action available: You can continue using content from the selected building block source.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the control is not selected first, the settings will not apply to the target control.
- Environment note: If the building block source is empty, the available content list will be limited.
3. Add Reusable Building Block Content
Feature entry: Insert → Document Parts → Save Selection to Document Part Gallery
- Select the text or content snippet that you want to reuse.
- Click Insert and open Document Parts.
- Select Save Selection to Document Part Gallery.
- After saving, return to the building block content control to use it.
- Check whether the saved content can be selected from the control.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected content is saved as a reusable document part.
- Next action available: The content can be selected and inserted from the related control.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If reusable content is not prepared first, no selectable building block can be created.
- Environment note: If the source has no saved content yet, the control list may appear empty.
