How-to Guide
1. Set a Column Type
Entry path: Right-click a column header → Column Type → Select a type
- In the spreadsheet, right-click the target column header, or click the three-dot button on the right side of the column header.
- Find Column Type at the top of the menu and move the pointer over it.
- In the submenu, select the type you need, such as Dropdown List, Date, Checkbox, Progress, Time, Cell Image, Email, or URL.
- The setting takes effect immediately, and the current column follows the selected display and input rules.
Success Criteria
- The type has been selected from the right-click menu.
- The current column shows the related display style or input rule.
- New entries in that column follow the selected type.
Tips While Using
- Only one column type can be active for the same column at a time.
- If you switch to a new type, the previous type is replaced.
- Existing data is displayed or checked according to the new type where applicable.
2. Set the Start Row
Entry path: Right-click a column header → Column Type → Set Start Row
- Apply any column type to the target column first.
- Open the Column Type submenu again.
- Find the Set Start Row input box in the upper-right area of the submenu. The default value is 2.
- Enter the row number where the type should begin, and the change takes effect immediately.
Success Criteria
- The Set Start Row value has been updated.
- The column type starts only from the specified row.
- Header rows or note rows can remain unchanged.
Tips While Using
- The default start row is 2, which is useful when row 1 is a header row.
- If your sheet has multiple title or note rows, set a larger start row value.
3. Clear a Column Type
Entry path: Right-click a column header → Column Type → Clear
- Right-click the column header that already has a column type, or click the three-dot button on the right side of the column header.
- Open the Column Type submenu.
- Click Clear at the bottom of the submenu.
- The column returns to a plain text column, and existing data stays in place.
Success Criteria
- The previous type-specific input style is no longer shown.
- The column has returned to a plain text column.
- Existing cell content is still kept in the sheet.
Tips While Using
- Clearing a column type does not delete existing data.
- After clearing, the column no longer applies the previous type’s validation rule.
