1. Open the Import File Data entry

Entry path: New Worksheet button on the bottom status bar → Import File Data

  1. Open the Smart Spreadsheet where you want to import data.
  2. Move the pointer to the New Worksheet button on the bottom status bar.
  3. In the expanded menu, find Import File Data.
  4. Click Import File Data to start the import flow.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: An import method or file selection window appears.
  • Next action available: You can continue with a local file or an online document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If Smart Spreadsheet is not open first, the entry may not be visible.
  • Environment note: If the option does not appear, update WPS Office to a newer version.

2. Import data from a local file

Entry path: Import File Data → Local File

  1. In the import method window, choose Local File.
  2. Paste a file, drag a file in, or click to choose a file.
  3. Select the target file and confirm that its format is supported.
  4. Click OK to start the import.

  • Interface result: WPS starts reading the file content.
  • Next action available: A corresponding new worksheet is generated after the import finishes.

3. Import data from an online document

Entry path: Import File Data → Online Document

  1. In the import method window, choose Online Document.
  2. Browse the cloud document path to find the file you want.

  4. Wait while WPS reads the online document and creates the worksheet.

  • Interface result: The selected online document starts loading for import.
  • Next action available: You can open the new worksheet after the import completes.

4. Confirm the import result and enter the new worksheet

Entry path: Automatic jump after import

  1. Wait for WPS to finish reading the file content.

  3. Confirm that the interface has switched to the new worksheet automatically.
  4. Continue reviewing, organizing, or editing the imported data in the new worksheet.
