How-to Guide

1. Create a text field

Entry path: + button on the right side of the header → Field Type drop-down list → Text

  1. Click the + button on the right side of the table header.
  2. Select Text from the field type list.
  3. Enter the field name.
  4. Click OK to finish creating the field.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: a new text field column appears in the table with the field name you set.
  • What you can do next: you can open field settings or start entering content in that column.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: closing the window before confirming the field name may stop the field from being created.
  • Environment note: you need edit permission for the current data table.

2. Set a default value

Entry path: right-click the field title → Field Settings → Default Value

  1. Right-click the text field title.
  2. Select Field Settings.
  3. Find Default Value in the settings panel.
  4. Enter the preset content.
  5. Save the setting so new records can use the preset text automatically.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the default value is shown in field settings.
  • What you can do next: when you add a new record, the field can fill in the preset text automatically.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you do not save the setting, new records will not use the preset content.
  • Environment note: if the field also needs other rules, confirm the field setup before finalizing all settings.

3. Prevent duplicate values

Entry path: right-click the field title → Field Settings → Prevent Duplicate Entries

  1. Right-click the text field title.
  2. Select Field Settings.
  3. Turn on Prevent Duplicate Entries in the settings panel.
  4. Save the setting.
  5. When duplicate content is entered later, the system clears it and prompts for a change.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: duplicate prevention is enabled in field settings.
  • What you can do next: repeated content is no longer kept when the same value is entered again.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: not checking existing duplicate records first can make later cleanup harder.
  • Environment note: only one text field in a table can be set to prevent duplicate values.

4. Enter text content

Entry path: target cell → direct input

  1. Click the target cell in the text field column.
  2. Type text, symbols, or a long numeric identifier directly.
  3. Press Enter to confirm the input.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the entered content appears in the target cell.
  • What you can do next: you can continue editing other cells or maintain the current record further.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you enter values that need calculations into a text field, they cannot be used directly in numeric calculations.
  • Environment note: if duplicate prevention is enabled, repeated content will not be kept.
