1. Create a Barcode Field
Entry point: + button on the right side of the table header → Field Type drop-down list → Barcode
- Open a Smart Table data table and go to the position where you want to add the field.
- Click the
+button on the right side of the table header. - In the field type list, select Barcode.
- Enter the field name.
- Click OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: A new Barcode Field column appears in the data table with the field name you entered.
- What you can do next: You can start entering content in the field or open field settings.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you do not confirm the intended table position first, the new field may be added in an unexpected column location.
- Environment note: You need to be inside a data table that supports field management.
2. Set the Barcode Field Input Method
Entry point: Right-click the field title → Field Settings → Input Method
- Find the Barcode Field that you already created in the data table.
- Right-click the field title and select Field Settings.
- In the Input Method area, review the current setting.
- If you want to restrict how data is entered, select Only allow mobile scan entry.
- Close the panel and test the field as needed.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected input method is shown in field settings.
- What you can do next: After the restriction is enabled, you can use a mobile device to scan and enter data; if it is not enabled, manual entry remains available.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: After Only allow mobile scan entry is enabled, manual input on the computer is no longer available for that field.
- Environment note: To verify scan entry, you need an available mobile device.
