1. Add a Comment

Entry point: Select text → Floating toolbar → Comment

  1. Select the text you want to comment on.
  2. Click Comment on the floating toolbar.
  3. Enter your comment and choose a person to notify if needed.
  4. Send the comment.
  5. You can also press Ctrl + Alt + M to start a new comment quickly.

Success Criteria

  • What you should see: A comment input area or comment card appears near the selected text.
  • What you can do next: After posting the comment, you can reply to it, edit it, or process it later.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If no text is selected first, the comment location may not match what you expected.
  • Environment note: If you want another person to receive a reminder, stay signed in and connected to the internet.

2. Reply to a Comment

Entry point: Click a comment → Reply box → Enter reply

  1. Click an existing comment to open it.
  2. Find the Reply area or reply button.
  3. Enter your reply and choose a person to notify if needed.
  4. Send the reply to continue the discussion thread.

Success Criteria

  • What you should see: A new reply appears under the original comment.
  • What you can do next: You can continue the thread with more replies or process the comment later.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you click the document body instead of the comment card, the reply box will not open.

3. Resolve a Comment

Entry point: Click a comment → Resolve and hide

  1. Click the comment you want to process.
  2. Click Resolve and hide.
  3. The comment is hidden from the document area.
  4. If needed, find it again from the comments pane.

Success Criteria

  • What you should see: The comment no longer appears in its current position beside the document content.
  • What you can do next: You can still review processed comments from the comments pane.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Do not confuse resolve with delete; a resolved comment can still be found in the comments pane.

4. Use More Comment Actions

Entry point: Click a comment → More

  1. Click the target comment.
  2. Click More.
  3. Choose the action you need, such as copy, edit, or delete.
  4. Return to the document and continue working with other comments.

Success Criteria

  • What you should see: The selected action takes effect immediately, such as updated comment text or a removed comment.
  • What you can do next: You can continue reviewing other comments or open the comments pane.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Before deleting a comment, confirm the content carefully because the current comment will no longer remain in the active list.

5. Open the Comments Pane

Entry point: File tab → Comment

  1. Click the File tab in the upper-left corner of the document.
  2. Find and click Comment.
  3. Open the comments pane on the right side to review comments in the current document.
  4. Filter comments by type or status as needed.
  5. When document updates are available, review reminders and choose whether to follow or unfollow document updates.

Success Criteria

  • What you should see: The comments pane opens on the right and lists comment records from the document.
  • What you can do next: You can locate comments, review status, or continue processing comments from the pane.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Do not confuse the comments pane with a general sidebar; make sure you are in the comments view.
  • Environment note: For update reminders and follow status, an internet connection is recommended.
