When using comments, the most common questions are about permissions, deletion, and where resolved comments appear. This FAQ includes 3 common questions and a glossary.

Who can add comments?

  1. Make sure the user has opened the target document.
  2. Confirm that the user has permission to view or collaborate on the document.
  3. Select text and try opening the comment entry point to post a comment.
  4. If you want to notify other collaborators, stay signed in and connected to the internet.

How do I delete a comment?

  1. Click the comment you want to manage.
  2. Open the More menu.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion, and the comment will no longer appear in the current active comment list.
  5. The document owner can delete all comments, while other users can usually delete only their own comments.

Where can I find resolved comments?

  1. Click the File tab in the upper-left corner.
  2. Open Comment to enter the comments pane.
  3. Filter comments by status in the pane.
  4. Review the comments marked as resolved.

Glossary
