1. Open the citation insertion entry

Entry path: Edit button in the lower-right corner → + icon in the bottom toolbar → Citation

  1. Open a smart document.
  2. Tap the Edit button in the lower-right corner.
  3. Tap the paragraph position where you want to add the citation.
  4. Tap the + icon in the bottom toolbar.
  5. Tap Citation to insert it.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: a citation area with indentation and a vertical line appears at the cursor position.
  • Next action available: you can type directly inside the citation area.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you do not enter editing mode first, the bottom toolbar insertion entry will not appear.
  • Environment note: open a smart document before starting these steps.

2. Type in the citation block

Entry path: after inserting the citation block, type directly inside the citation area

  1. Insert a citation block using the steps above.
  2. Keep the cursor inside the citation area.
  3. Type the quote, source note, or remark you want to show.
  4. Add more lines as needed.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: the text appears inside the citation block.
  • Next action available: you can continue editing the citation or move to another paragraph.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if the cursor is not inside the citation area, your text may go into a normal paragraph instead.
  • Environment note: the citation block is intended for text input in this workflow.

3. Exit citation block editing

Entry path: tap another paragraph area outside the citation block

  1. Finish typing inside the citation block.
  2. Tap another paragraph location in the document.
  3. Continue typing normal body text or perform other edits.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: the cursor leaves the citation block and moves to a normal text position.
  • Next action available: you can continue editing standard paragraph content.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if the cursor remains inside the citation area, later input will continue inside the citation block.
