1. Show the Directory

Entry: Open the document → click the Expand button on the left

  1. Open a smart document.
  2. Click the Expand button on the left side.
  3. When the directory panel appears, review the heading structure in the panel.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The directory panel appears on the left side.
  • Next action available: You can review heading levels and click nodes for navigation.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the document does not use heading styles, the visible outline structure may be limited.
  • Environment note: If an online document loads slowly, the directory panel may appear with a short delay.

2. Hide the Directory

Entry: Open the document → click the Collapse button on the left

  1. Open a smart document with the directory panel already shown.
  2. Click the Collapse button on the left side.
  3. After the directory panel is hidden, the reading area becomes wider.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The directory panel disappears from the left side.
  • Next action available: You can continue reading or editing the current document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the directory panel has not been opened first, there is no expanded panel to collapse.

3. Jump to a Document Section from the Directory

Entry: Directory panel on the left → click a heading node

  1. Open a smart document and show the directory panel.
  2. Find the heading node that you want to view.
  3. Click the target heading node.
  4. The document automatically scrolls to the matching section.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The document view moves to the selected heading location.
  • Next action available: You can continue reading, editing, or selecting another heading node.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Headings inside highlight blocks and tables do not appear in the directory.
  • Environment note: The directory is generated from H1-H6 headings in the main body content.
