1. Show the directory

Entry: Open the document → left-side Expand button

  1. Open the smart document.
  2. Click the Expand button on the left side.
  3. The directory pane appears on the left side of the document.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The directory pane appears on the left.
  • What you can do next: You can review the heading structure and click heading nodes.

Tips While Using

  • The directory is generated from heading styles in the document body.
  • If the document does not contain recognized headings, the directory may appear empty.

2. Hide the directory

Entry: Open the document → left-side Collapse button

  1. Open a smart document with the directory pane already shown.
  2. Click the Collapse button on the left side.
  3. The directory pane is hidden.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The left-side directory pane disappears.
  • What you can do next: You can continue reading and editing in the document body.

Tips While Using

  • Hiding the directory only changes the current viewing state.

3. Jump to a document position from the directory

Entry: Left-side directory pane → click a heading node

  1. Show the left-side directory pane first.
  2. Click any heading node in the directory pane.
  3. The document automatically scrolls to the matching position.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The document view jumps to the selected heading position.
  • What you can do next: You can continue reading, editing, or choose another heading node.

Tips While Using

  • The directory only recognizes paragraphs in the document body that use heading styles.
  • Headings inside highlight blocks and tables do not appear in the directory.
