Why does my heading not appear in the table of contents?

  1. Make sure the paragraph uses a heading style instead of only manual font-size or bold changes.
  2. Check whether the heading is in the main body area; headings inside highlighted blocks and tables do not appear in the table of contents.
  3. Make sure the document is using its table-of-contents-related feature and refresh the display if needed.

How should I choose heading levels?

  1. Use H1 for the document title or the highest-level heading.
  2. Use H2 for section headings and H3 for subsection headings.
  3. Try to keep the structure within 2 to 3 heading levels so the document stays easy to read.

Can I change the level of an existing heading?

  1. Tap the paragraph that already uses a heading.
