1. Apply superscript

Entry path: Bottom ToolsHome tab → font-related controls → Superscript button (icon: x^2^)

  1. Select the text or cell that you want to format.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. In the font-related controls, tap Superscript.
  5. Check whether the selected content now appears as superscript.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text appears above the normal text baseline.
  • The original characters remain unchanged and only the format is updated.
  • You can continue editing, saving, or sharing the spreadsheet file.

Tips While Using

  • Select the target text or cell before applying the format.
  • Superscript works well for exponents, markers, and other short content.
  • If you want to remove the effect, return to the same formatting control and adjust the current state.

2. Apply subscript

Entry path: Bottom ToolsHome tab → font-related controls → Subscript button (icon: x~2~)

  1. Select the text or cell that you want to format.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. In the font-related controls, tap Subscript.
  5. Check whether the selected content now appears as subscript.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text appears below the normal text baseline.
  • The content remains editable and does not affect other cells in the spreadsheet.
  • The file can be saved normally.

Tips While Using

  • Subscript is commonly used for chemical formulas and variable labels.
  • In the same position, it is usually clearer to apply one effect at a time.
  • If the display is not what you expected, select the content again and adjust it.
