What is the difference between a PivotChart and a regular chart?

  1. A PivotChart is created from a PivotTable or a related summary workflow.
  2. It can update along with changes made to the PivotTable.
  3. A regular chart is more suitable for displaying raw data or standard summaries, with a different interaction model.

Why can’t I create the chart I want directly from the current range?

  1. First, confirm that the selected range is valid and that the field headers are complete.
  2. Then check whether you entered the feature from the PivotChart command on the Insert tab.
  3. If you want to create a chart from a PivotTable, select an existing PivotTable first.

What happens to the chart after I change the PivotTable?

  1. The PivotChart updates along with changes to the PivotTable.
  2. You can continue changing fields, categories, or filters to review different results.
  3. If the result is not what you expected, check the current summary method and filter state in the PivotTable first.
