1. Convert numbers to text-formatted numbers or convert text-formatted numbers to numbers

Feature entry: Home tab → Convert drop-down menu

  1. Select the cells you want to process.
  2. Click the Convert drop-down menu on the Home tab.
  3. Select Number to Text-formatted Number or Text-formatted Number to Number.
  4. Check whether the cells now use the target data type.

Success Criteria

  • The cell values stay the same, but the stored data type changes.
  • The result can be used for later calculation, sorting, or text processing.

Tips While Using

  • If a cell contains mixed characters, the result may depend on the original content.
  • Confirm the selected range before running the conversion.

3. Convert Chinese and English punctuation or change English letter case

  3. Select Convert Chinese and English Punctuation or Change English Letter Case as needed.
  4. Review the converted text to confirm the formatting result.

4. Keep values only

Feature entry: Membership tab → Smart Toolbox → Format drop-down menu

  1. Select the cells that contain formula results.
  2. Click the Membership tab.
  3. Open Smart Toolbox, then open the Format drop-down menu.
  4. Select Keep Values Only.
  5. Check whether the cells now keep only the displayed result values.

Success Criteria

  • The cells keep the current result values.
  • The original formulas no longer update with linked calculations.

Tips While Using

  • This feature requires WPS Premium.
  • After conversion, the original formulas are replaced by result values, so backing up data first is recommended.

5. Convert between text and formulas

Feature entry: Home tab → Convert drop-down menu, or Membership tab → Smart Toolbox → Format drop-down menu

  1. Select the target cells.
  2. Open the related conversion entry.
  3. Select Text to Formula or Formula to Text.
  4. Confirm that the cells now display the target form.
