How-to Guide
1. Hide a Sheet from the Right-Click Menu
Entry point: Right-click a sheet tab > Hide
- In the sheet tab bar, right-click the sheet tab that you want to hide.
- Select Hide.
- The sheet disappears from the tab bar.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The hidden sheet tab is no longer shown in the tab bar at the bottom.
- What you can do next: You can still switch to, edit, and save the other visible sheets.
Tips While Using
- Keep at least one sheet visible in the workbook.
- Hiding a sheet does not delete its data or formulas.
2. Hide a Sheet from the Home Tab
Entry point: Home tab > Worksheet drop-down menu > Hide Sheet
- Open the spreadsheet file that you want to manage.
- Click the Home tab.
- Open the Worksheet drop-down menu.
- Click Hide Sheet.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The target sheet is hidden from the tab bar.
- What you can do next: You can continue editing other sheets or save the workbook.
Tips While Using
- Confirm that the current sheet is the one you want to hide before you start.
- If the workbook has only one sheet, the hide action is usually unavailable.
3. Unhide a Sheet from the Right-Click Menu
Entry point: Right-click any visible sheet tab > Unhide
- In the sheet tab bar, right-click any visible sheet tab.
- Select Unhide.
- In the dialog box, choose the sheet that you want to show again.
- Click OK.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected hidden sheet appears again in the tab bar.
- What you can do next: You can switch to that sheet immediately to review or edit it.
Tips While Using
- If there are no hidden sheets, the Unhide option may be unavailable.
- After a sheet is restored, its data, formulas, and content remain unchanged.
4. Unhide a Sheet from the Home Tab
Entry point: Home tab > Worksheet drop-down menu > Unhide Sheet
- Click the Home tab.
- Open the Worksheet drop-down menu.
- Click Unhide Sheet.
- In the dialog box, choose the sheet that you want to show again.
- Click OK.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The selected hidden sheet appears again in the tab bar.
- What you can do next: You can continue editing, switching, or saving the workbook.
Tips While Using
- If multiple sheets are hidden, confirm the target sheet name in the dialog box before restoring it.
