1. Set font color from the ribbon
Entry: Home tab → Font Color button or its drop-down arrow
- Select the cell whose text color you want to change, or double-click the cell and select part of the text inside it.
- Click the Font Color button on the Home tab.
- To apply the most recently used color, click the button directly.
- To choose another color, click the drop-down arrow next to the button to open the color panel.
- Select a preset color. If you need a more specific color, click More Colors and define it.
Success Criteria
- The selected text changes to the chosen color immediately.
- When you select the cell again, the updated text color is visible.
- The worksheet remains editable and can still be saved or copied.
Tips While Using
- If you only want to change part of the text in a cell, enter cell editing mode first and then select the target text.

2. Set font color from the right-click Format Cells dialog
Entry: Right-click menu → Format Cells → Font tab → Color drop-down list
- Select the target cell.
- Right-click the selection and choose Format Cells.
- In the dialog box, switch to the Font tab.
- Open the Color drop-down list and choose the font color you want.
- If needed, open More Colors to define a custom color.
- Click OK to save the change.
