1. Copy

Entry point: Home tab → Copy

  1. Select the cell or cell range that you want to copy.
  2. Click Copy on the Home tab.
  3. When a moving dashed border appears around the selected area, the content has been copied to the clipboard.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A moving dashed border appears around the selected area.
  • Next actions: You can paste the copied content into another cell.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you click Copy before selecting the target range, the result may not match your expectation.

2. Copy as Picture

Entry point: Home tab → arrow next to Copy → Copy as Picture

  1. Select the cell range or in-cell text that you want to copy.
  2. Click the arrow next to Copy.
  3. Select Copy as Picture.
  4. In the dialog box, choose the picture format and click OK.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: After the action is complete, the content can be pasted into another app as an image.
  • Next actions: You can paste it into a document, chat window, or presentation.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you close the dialog box before confirming the picture format, the copy action may not finish.

3. Copy from the Right-Click Menu

  1. Select the cell or text that you want to copy.
  2. Right-click to open the context menu.
  3. Click Copy.
  4. Confirm that a moving dashed border appears around the selected area.

4. Cut

Entry point: Home tab → Cut

  1. Select the cell or text that you want to move.
  2. Click Cut on the Home tab.
  3. When a moving dashed border appears, the content is temporarily stored on the clipboard.
  4. Paste it into the target location. The original content is removed after the paste is completed.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The selected content enters a ready-to-paste state after cutting.
  • Next actions: You can paste it into the target cell to complete the move.
  • No side effects: Before pasting, the original content remains in a pending move state.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you perform another copy action before pasting, the clipboard content may be replaced.

5. Cut from the Right-Click Menu

Entry point: Right-click menu → Cut

  1. Select the cell or text that you want to move.
  2. Right-click to open the context menu.
  3. Click Cut.
  4. Paste it into the target location to complete the move.

  • UI state: The original area enters a pending move state.
  • Next actions: You can continue by pasting into the target cell.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you continue with other actions before confirming the target location, the cut workflow may be interrupted.

6. Paste

Entry point: Home tab → Paste

  1. Complete a copy or cut action first.
  2. Click the target cell where you want to place the content.
  3. Click Paste on the Home tab.
  4. If you want to cancel the current copy or cut state, press Esc.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The clipboard content appears in the target cell.
  • Next actions: You can continue editing, save the file, or copy again.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not select the target cell first, the content may be pasted into the wrong location.

7. Paste Special and Right-Click Paste

Entry point: Home tab → arrow next to Paste → Paste Special; or right-click menu → Paste / Paste Text Only / Paste Special

  1. Copy or cut the content first.
  2. Click the target cell.
  3. To control the paste result, click the arrow next to Paste and select Paste Special.
  4. Choose the option you need, such as pasting values only, formatting only, or links.
  5. You can also right-click and choose Paste, Paste Text Only, or Paste Special from the context menu.
