1. Apply bold

Entry path: Tools → Home → Bold

  1. Select the cell that contains the text you want to emphasize.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Tap Bold.
  5. Check whether the selected text now appears in bold.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: the text in the selected cell appears heavier and more prominent.
  • Next action available: you can continue typing, apply other formatting, or save the file.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if no target cell is selected first, the formatting may not be applied as expected.

2. Apply bold to a full row or column

Entry path: Select a full row or column → Tools → Home → Bold

  1. Tap the row number or column label to select the full range you want to format.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Tap Bold.
  5. Confirm that the text in the selected row or column is now bold.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: text across the current selection appears in bold.
  • Next action available: you can continue applying other text formatting to the same selection.

3. Remove bold

Entry path: Select bold text → Tools → Home → Bold

  1. Select the cell or range that already uses bold formatting.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Tap Bold again.
  5. Confirm that the text returns to normal weight.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: the previously bold text no longer appears bold.
