1. Top Align

Entry path: Home → Top Align

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Top Align on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The selected content appears at the top of the cell.
  • Other cell data remains unchanged.

Tips While Using

  • Make sure the correct cells are selected before applying the command.

2. Middle Align Vertically

Entry path: Home → Middle Align

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Middle Align on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The selected content appears in the vertical middle of the cell.
  • Existing worksheet data stays unchanged.

Tips While Using

  • If the row height is small, the visual change may be subtle.

3. Bottom Align

Entry path: Home → Bottom Align

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Bottom Align on the Home tab.

Success Criteria

  • The selected content appears at the bottom of the cell.
  • Other formatting in the current cell remains in place.

4. Align Left

Entry path: Home → Align Left

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Align Left.

Success Criteria

  • Text or numbers appear against the left side of the cell.

5. Center Align

Entry path: Home → Center Align

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Center Align.

Success Criteria

  • Content appears in the horizontal center of the cell.

6. Align Right

Entry path: Home → Align Right

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Align Right.

Success Criteria

  • Content appears against the right side of the cell.

7. Justify

Entry path: Home → Justify

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Justify.

Success Criteria

  • Content is rearranged with justified alignment.

Tips While Using

  • This effect is usually easier to notice with longer text.

8. Distributed Alignment

Entry path: Home → Distributed Alignment

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click Distributed Alignment.

Success Criteria

  • Content is displayed with distributed alignment inside the cell.

9. Set Horizontal Alignment in Format Cells

Entry path: Home → Format Cells: Alignment arrow → Horizontal Alignment

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click the alignment arrow in the Format Cells area on the Home tab.
  3. Open the Horizontal Alignment drop-down list in the dialog box.
  4. Select the alignment you want and click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cells display the chosen horizontal alignment.

10. Set Vertical Alignment in Format Cells

Entry path: Home → Format Cells: Alignment arrow → Vertical Alignment

  1. Select the target cells or selected text inside a cell.
  2. Click the alignment arrow in the Format Cells area.
  3. Open the Vertical Alignment drop-down list in the dialog box.
  4. Select the alignment you want and click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cells display the chosen vertical alignment.

11. Set Horizontal Alignment from Right-Click Format Cells

Entry path: Right-click menu → Format Cells → Alignment

  1. Select the target cell and right-click it.
  2. Choose Format Cells.
  3. Open the Alignment tab.
  4. Select the target option in Horizontal Alignment and click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The horizontal alignment is updated immediately.

12. Set Vertical Alignment from Right-Click Format Cells

Entry path: Right-click menu → Format Cells → Alignment

  1. Select the target cell and right-click it.
  2. Choose Format Cells.
  3. Open the Alignment tab.
  4. Select the target option in Vertical Alignment and click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The vertical alignment is updated immediately.

13. Decrease Indent

Entry path: Home → Decrease Indent

  1. Select the cells where you want to adjust indentation.
  2. Click Decrease Indent.

Success Criteria

  • Cell content moves left and the indentation becomes smaller.

14. Increase Indent

Entry path: Home → Increase Indent

  1. Select the cells where you want to adjust indentation.
  2. Click Increase Indent.

Success Criteria

  • Cell content moves right and the indentation becomes larger.

15. Set Indent Value in Format Cells

Entry path: Home → Format Cells: Alignment arrow → Indent

  1. Select the cells where you want to adjust indentation.
  2. Click the alignment arrow in the Format Cells area.
  3. Find the Indent box in the dialog box.
  4. Enter an indent value, or use the arrows to adjust it, then click OK.

Success Criteria

  • Cell content is displayed with the entered indent value.

16. Set Indent Value from Right-Click Format Cells

Entry path: Right-click menu → Format Cells → Alignment

  1. Select the target cell and right-click it.
  2. Choose Format Cells.
  3. Open the Alignment tab and find the Indent box.
  4. Enter or adjust the indent value, then click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The indentation value is updated as set.
