When using Split Columns, common questions usually involve overwritten results, undoing changes, and finding the command; this FAQ includes 3 common questions and a 3-term glossary.
FAQ
Will Split Columns damage my original data?
- By default, the split result is written to the columns on the right of the original data.
- If there is already content on the right, check whether the target area is blank before you continue.
- If you want to preserve the current layout, insert blank columns on the right before splitting.
How do I undo Split Columns?
- If the result is not what you expected, tap Undo right after the split.
- Return to the state before the split.
- Choose the delimiter again and run the split one more time.
Why can't I find the Split Columns command?
- Make sure you are working in a WPS spreadsheet file, not a document or presentation file.
- Select a cell or range, tap Tools, and switch to the Data tab.
- Look for Split Columns in the data tools. If it still does not appear, update WPS Office and try again.
